This is your gentle reminder that Mother’s Day is just around the corner. Already had it marked in your diary? Top marks. Sweating it a bit? Don’t – you’ve come to the right place.

We’re guessing your mum really deserves a treat, so if beauty is her love language here we round up the bougiest IYKYK gifts to impress even the most discerning of beauty addicts.

From gorgeous hand creams and beautiful fragrances to thoughtful pampering tips from aesthetician, Marie Reynolds, we’ve got your mum (and you) covered.

Favourite child status – pending!

Treat her to a new fragrance

If you know which fragrance notes are your mum’s favourite, then you’re perfectly qualified to surprise her with a new perfume this Mother’s Day. The Miller Harris Tea Tonique Trio (£145) is a real treat. It includes an eau de parfum (fragrance), extrait de parfum (a more concentrated fragrance) and a hair and body mist.

The smell is warm, smoky and leathery with notes of black tea and birch. So, if she likes the smell of cosy winter evenings and wood from the fire, this might just be her perfect match!

Another fragrance treat with – warning – a price tag that means serious business, is Eight & Bob Serenite en Bourgogne (£85 for 30 ml/ £197 for 100ml). It is a unisex scent that includes warm, woody and spicy gourmand, inspired by Burgundy’s vineyards and the French countryside.  Mmm, take us there now!

For something a bit more budget friendly (but still oh-so yummy), the Memoize Gift Set III contains 4 7.5ml bottles, including their iconic Luxuria, White Castitas, Era, and Humanitas fragrances and costs £49. While the travel versions don’t come in quite the same bottles as the exquisite full sizes, the quality of scent is the same. Heady, elegant, and long-lasting… your mum is sure to thank you.

Alternatively if home fragrance is more her thing, how about showing her some love with a reed diffuser instead? Mystic Essence Reed Diffuser (£45) fills a room with a warm cherry blossom, rosemary and marigold hug. Other notes include lychee, white fig and eucalyptus – it’s win win.

Spoil her with skincare

Whose mum doesn’t want to be pampered with innovative skincare on Mother’s Day? We’ll wait…

The Naydaya Neck Wrinkle Shield (£27) is a silicone neck patch that creates a moisture-locking barrier and promises to target neck lines, hydrate and smooth crepey skin thanks to coconut oil, turmeric and liquorice. And it’s not a one hit wonder either – it’s reusable so she’ll be able to use it up to 15 times.

Alternatively, you could gift your mum with the Elizabeth Arden Retinol + HPR Ceramide Rapid Skin Rewewing Eye Cream (£58/$68). First of all, you’ll have her at ‘Elizabeth Arden’ because – iconic brand alert.

But also this brand-new product claims to be 10 times more potent than traditional retinol and aims to smooth fine lines, strengthen the skin barrier and reduce dark circles and puffiness. Lucky (youthful) mum.

Or, if she wants to turn her hand to boosting collagen, the Revive Collagen Enhanced Plus Hydrolysed Marine Collagen Drink (£35.69 for a 14 day subscription) is a great idea for an ongoing gift. It promises to provide a daily dose of vitamin B6, C and D, reducing wrinkles over time, boosting skin elasticity and enhancing hair health. Trust us when we say whether it’s Mother’s Day or just Tuesday, she’s going to want this in her life.

Is your mum’s feeling a bit lost when it comes to skincare? Pass on Reynolds’ words of wisdom this Mother’s Day. “The key is simplicity and consistency,” she says. “I always say that skin thrives on rhythm. Start with a gentle but effective cleanse — not something that strips, but something that respects the barrier.

Follow with hydration layered thoughtfully: a hydrating mist or essence, a serum suited to their skin condition (often something barrier-supportive or brightening), and a nourishing moisturiser to seal everything in.” *Writes in Mother’s Day card*

Boost her body care

What is it about mums and hand cream? They always seem to have one on them (or is that just ours?). Treat your mum to one she may not have tried before like Fine Scents Hyde In The Park hand cream (£16) which smooths, protects and hydrates hands to the max thanks to beeswax and glycerine. And we defy anyone not to be obsessed with its scent too.

It’s a mixture of citrusy blackcurrant, grapefruit and lemon with middle notes of fig, peony and rose and base notes of sandalwood and white musk to create an overall feel of what the brand describe as ‘a gentle salty sea breeze.’ Sold.

Or if she’s more into an all-over pamper, the Elemental Herbology Zest Sugar Body Polish (£40)  is pure indulgence. It’s packed with superfood plant oils for a giant helping of skin goodness and helps to reveal smoother, healthier, ‘glowier’ skin at the same time. Want to go the full whammy Add a luxurious body cream into her gift bag too for when she’s post-scrub and she’ll feel positively radiant.

For a budget-friendly yet lovely surprise, Sanctuary Spa Aqua Serenity Body Butter (£12.50) is guaranteed to earn you daughter/son brownie points. There are four body washes included, so she can take her pick.

Aqua Serenity smells refreshing thanks to lotus water, magnolia blossom and jojoba oils, Golden Sandalwood also contains black pepper and freesia, Lily & Rose is a blend of damask rose, ylang ylang and palmarosa and the Signature Body Wash mixes jasmine, grapefruit and vanilla for a sweet-smelling cleanse. Never mind Mother’s Day, we’re adding it to our own birthday list.

Give the gift of sleep

Let’s face it, you *may* have caused your mum a bit of sleep deprivation as a baby. Sure, it’s what babies do but perhaps now is the time to make it up to her. The Olverum Nightfall Sleep Mist (£26.50) aims to help her fall asleep faster.

Enriched with lavender, a popular sleep aid ingredient, bergamot for calming the mind, geranium and roman chamomile to regulate the nervous system and Amyris to ensure a deeper sleep. Plus, it’s good for the skin too. Sounds dreamy…

Sign her up for monthly facials

Reynolds says that mums typically just want their skin to be the best it can be and that chasing trends just isn’t a priority. “They’re looking for skin that feels healthy, resilient and calm,” she explains.

“Their priorities tend to centre around fatigue, dehydration and hormonal shifts. Skin can appear dull, sensitised or reactive, particularly after periods of stress or disrupted sleep.

There’s also often a feeling of having “lost” their skin slightly – perhaps noticing changes in firmness, pigmentation or texture. What they truly want is skin that reflects how they feel inside: strong, balanced and luminous.”

So what could be an ideal gift for the mum who wants to focus on consistently great skin as she matures? The Cultskin Lab membership (£290 per month) includes an advanced skin treatment every month, and digital scans every three months. Ok, it’s a splurge – a big one – but if you’ve been needing an idea for how to really treat your mum and are in a position to do so monthly, this would really make her year.

Whether it’s microneedling, advanced LED light therapy or a hydrafacial she wants to try, this membership has it all. She will start off with a consultation and then a tailor-made treatment plan going forward. It’s a great one to share out between you and your siblings if paying for it alone is too much of a stretch.

Help her to elevate her skincare routine

Reynolds says that focussing on ritual, rather than just products is really what mums deserve. “Facial massage is transformative and doesn’t need to be complicated,” Reynolds explains. “Even two to three minutes of mindful massage while applying oil in the evening supports circulation, lymphatic drainage and muscle tone – and just as importantly, it calms the nervous system.”

She continues, “add in a warm compress cleanse in the evening – taking time to breathe deeply while removing the day – and it becomes a reset for both skin and mind. A weekly mask tailored to the skin’s needs also makes a difference. Something hydrating and restorative rather than aggressive. The goal is nourishment, not stimulation.”

And what can she do as a treat for Mother’s Day especially? “I would encourage creating space: a candle lit, phone away, slow movements,” she advises. “Skin responds profoundly when we shift out of stress mode. That pause, that care – that is the true luxury.”

The takeaway

There are so many ways to celebrate your mum this Mother’s Day, whether that’s opting for an extravagant gift, a treatment or a small gesture. Whatever you decide to do for her is guaranteed to make her feel truly loved. Happy Mother’s Day to all who celebrate!
