Glossy Black Cherry to Molten Gold – 25 Autumn Nails We Want on Our Hands Immediately

So long summer – you were warm and wonderful and everything a good summer should be! But now it’s time to pass the baton over to autumn. Autumn jumpers, autumn walks and, most importantly, autumn nails.

I don’t know about you but welcoming in rich, deep, moody manicures makes letting go of the bright, sheer, summery hues so much easier.

And while it’s hardly groundbreaking to tell you that browns, reds and oranges are back for fall, what is interesting for 2026 is the particular versions of them nail experts are predicting.

Professional nail expert and educator Radina Ignatova says the classics are returning “presented in a slightly more modern way”: think oxblood and wine rather than a straightforward red, espresso and chocolate browns, and burnt orange, terracotta and rusty shades in place of anything too bright.

And there are a few less predictable additions creeping in too. Retail trend and social expert Natasha Cooper is tipping matcha green as one to watch, alongside ‘jammy nails’ – a translucent, jelly-like finish that works particularly well with berry, soft pink and deep chocolate. Meanwhile, colour analyst Kirsten Welsch points to black cherry, cinnamon, olive and smoky neutrals among this season’s most interesting shades.

The finishes are changing too. Ignatova expects magnetic and cat-eye effects to remain big because they add depth without lots of nail art, while Welsch points to chrome, shimmer and translucent jelly finishes as ways to give those familiar autumn colours a more modern feel.

So, keep scrolling to see our 25 favourite autumnal nail ideas – from glossy black cherry and mossy chrome to tortie tips, cat-eye gold and just the right amount of Halloween.

Pick your two favourite autumn browns and ask for a two tone, floral design. We particularly love this look on short nails.

2. Matte grey coffin nails

There’s no better way to transition into your autumn manicure appointments than swapping the neons and gloss for matte and moody grey.

3. Hot chocolate nails

New season nails that are good enough to eat – this shade is called Cinnamon Spice by The Gel Bottle.

And chocolate brown is one of this autumn’s big hitters. Nail technician Jessica Dickson says shades reminiscent of “coffee, chocolate and pumpkins” are perennial autumn favourites.

4. Block forest green

Another high shine shade that screams autumn – keep nails short and square for this one.

Green is also getting an autumn update. Retail trend expert Natasha Cooper is seeing the usual olive tones joined by matcha greens, while Welsch points to earthy olive as one of this season’s most flattering alternatives to the usual reds and browns.

5. Burgundy micro French tips

A touch of red, reminding us of the emerging red leaves on the trees right now. Most flattering on long, round nails.

6. High shine berry nails

11. Chrome moss green nails

We love the slightly uneven texture this polish leaves on the nails. And the best bit is that it works on all lengths and shapes!

Want to embrace the fall but not *quite* done with summer yet? Add a cobalt blue and sunny yellow to your autumn nail palette.

We are obsessed with this super glossy, red wine mani using Bio Sculpture in ‘Erica’. File nails straight and officially say goodbye to summer.

If you’re torn between red and something moodier, this is a particularly good year to go darker. Welsch says deep burgundy and black cherry are among the rich, dimensional shades leading the way this autumn.

15. Tortie French tips

Golden leaves – but make them nails! This square shape on long nails is super effective with a cat eye texture.

And cat-eye isn’t going anywhere. “I think magnetic and cat-eye finishes will continue to be very strong going into autumn because they give you depth without needing lots of nail art,” says Ignatova.

25. Floral Halloween ghost nails

We can’t decide if these are scary or pretty. Or perhaps just scarily pretty? Choose a spiced pumpkin orange for your ring and little fingers.
