I never quite know how much the tones of my eyeshadow, blush and lipstick are supposed to “go” together. How do I make everything look pulled together without ending up looking too matchy-matchy?
Ruby says:
It’s all about staying within the same colour family. If you’re using warm tones on your eyes, keep your cheeks and lips warm too, if you’re opting for cool, stick to cool across the board. When you’re starting out, matching your shades closely is actually a great safety net.
Once you feel confident, start playing with textures to break it up… pair a matte lip with a luminous blush, or add a swipe of gloss over a velvety eyeshadow. Mixing finishes gives you that effortless, cohesive look without feeling like a uniform.
