I Finally Put Biodance’s TikTok Viral Bio Collagen Mask to the Test. Here’s What I Thought

A good face mask is the perfect addition to a cosy night indoors watching films and pampering, and, most of the time, I’m not even that bothered about the results. It’s more a process thing for me.
That’s before I saw the Biodance Bio Collagen Mask (£14.90 on Boots UK /$19.00 at Sephora US for four masks, although you can buy bigger bundles) circulating on my TikTok FYP for months though.
Promising to plump, hydrate, and minimise pores, this started to sound like the perfect face mask for my combination skin type. I was also intrigued by the seemingly endless videos of skincare fans showing off their dewy results online.

But, after finally deciding to try it, does it actually live up to the claims and the influencer hype? Or is it just another beauty gimmick? And as someone who tends to find sheet masks slightly annoying and uncomfortable, how would I get on?
Read on to find out how Bio Collagen mask worked for me (with before and after pics).
- Price: £14.90 / $19 for four
- Tested for: 4.5 hours, with results checked again the following day
- Best for: A temporary hydration and glow boost, particularly before an event
- Biggest drawback: Fiddly and time-consuming to wear, with no noticeable pore-minimising or plumping effect
- Our verdict: Left Laura’s combination skin noticeably hydrated and slightly brighter into the next day, but the results weren’t dramatic enough to justify the hours-long wear time for her.
- Our rating: 3.5/5
- Best alternatives: Medicube Collagen Night Wrapping Mask, Anua Heartleaf 70 Soothing Collagen Mask, and Garnier Moisture Bomb
The product details
This particular mask arrived in a dusky pink packet that you rip open at the top like many other sheet masks. It also comes in four other variations; Rejuvenating Caviar PDRN (for firming), Hydra Cera-nol (for hydration), Radiant Vita Niacinamide (for evening out skin tone), and Refreshing Sea Kelp (for breakouts).
The brand describes my version, the classic Bio Collagen face mask, as a “highly concentrated hydrogel mask with 34g of active ingredients for hydration, elasticity, and minimised pores”.
@biodance_global Choose your mask ? ? Collagen — plump + pore care ? Caviar PDRN — firm + glow ? Cera-nol — soothe + barrier ? Sea Kelp — calm + balance #biodance #collagen #skincare #koreanskincare #glassskin
It’s formulated with low molecular hyaluronic acid solution, low molecular collagen, and galactomyces ferment filtrate – an antioxidant and probiotic that is a byproduct of the fermentation of Japanese rice wine, or sake, and is said to have anti-ageing properties.
It also contains a trusty favourite of mine – niacinamide.
However, since there are no substantial studies that show applying collagen topically will actually improve elasticity, and we know you can’t actually shrink pores I expected this to be more of a hydration shot that makes skin temporarily appear plumper and dewier.
How I tested Biodance’s Bio Collagen Real Deep Mask
The brand says to use this for a minimum of two to three hours and recommends leaving up to eight hours overnight for the best results (feeding into the “morning shed” trend all over TikTok).
However, I really couldn’t see myself being able to sleep with a face mask on, so I decided to keep it on for around six hours (or as long as my patience would let me) during the day before an evening event.
In the end, I applied it during the daytime on cleansed, dried, bare skin, leaving it on for four and a half hours. Afterwards I continued with my regular skincare routine before applying makeup.
First impressions
I got comfortable (I was wearing this for hours so comfort is key) and ripped open the packaging with ease.
I always sniff a product first and the smell of this mask is very light – it doesn’t smell chemical or contain any strong fragrances. It has a silicone jelly-like texture and I found getting it out of the packet and the application quite fiddly – I’d suggest turning the packet upside down and letting the mask slide out. It’s very slippery, and the mask itself is very easy to rip (especially with long nails like mine – I did end up tearing mine and I was being very careful).

Before applying the mask, I did a morning cleanse using Jordan Samuel’s Matinee Cream Cleanser. I didn’t apply moisturiser since I’d be wearing a hydrator on my face for the next several hours.
The mask comes in two parts – one for the upper part of the face and one for the lower – and it also includes three patches that you can apply under your eyes or on the sides of your nose.
I carefully applied the top half before applying the bottom half (I didn’t use the smaller patches), trying to avoid making too many movements, just placing them over my face.
Unlike other masks I’ve tried, this one fit much better because of the separate parts. Biodance’s version also doesn’t slip down my face in an annoying fashion like plenty of other masks I’ve used – bonus. Even though I didn’t wear this overnight then (which you absolutely can), I can see how this would stay put while you sleep if you did.

The first thing I noticed on application is how immediately cooling and soothing this mask is. But even though it stays in place well, for wearing around the house I still found it slightly annoying, and when I put my glasses back on they irritatingly steamed up from the moisture.
The process
I planned to leave the mask on for six hours during the day, but I struggled with having something on my face for that amount of time so I removed it after around four and a half hours.
Over the hours, it stayed in place but I needed to adjust it a couple of times around my eyes because it was getting in the way of my vision – and my glasses kept slipping down my nose!
It’s pretty delicate so you do have to be careful if you want to readjust it as even a slight tug will definitely pull it apart. Other sheet masks like Garnier’s Moisture Bomb sheet mask are easier to use and the potential for tearing the Biodance mask was a little bit stressful for me.

It was easy to drink my coffee while wearing, though, which is a huge plus for me.
After an hour, I touched the mask and it felt dry. The serum seemed to have already been absorbed into my skin but the mask was still a milky white colour. It didn’t stick to all of the contours on my face, but it did cling where it mattered most.
After around two hours, it started to turn transparent, and at the three hour mark it went completely clear. According to the brand, if you like, this is when you can take the mask off – or you can leave it on for longer.
You can also see that the mask hasn’t turned clear where there is an overlap, however, it’s only the top part that isn’t clear because it didn’t come into contact with my skin.
My Biodance mask before and after results
Honestly, I wasn’t blown away by the results.
As expected, despite the brand’s claims I still had noticeable pores. However, my skin did feel hydrated and, again, you can clearly see this in the photo below. I would say my skin tone looked slightly brighter, too.

I couldn’t see any clear plumping effects but I was intrigued to see how my skin looked and felt the next day.
How long they lasted
Firstly, when I used my regular CeraVe Moisturising Lotion that evening before applying makeup, my skin felt very hydrated. I also felt like my makeup applied better, I didn’t have any dry patches, and my skin looked slightly glowier than usual.
When I took my makeup off that night and applied moisturiser, my skin looked and felt soft and moisturised – slightly more so than usual.
The next day, I inspected my skin and it definitely felt more hydrated and looked a bit brighter. I still wouldn’t say my pores looked reduced, but I was pleasantly surprised with how healthy my skin felt. Again, not blown away, but I could definitely still see a glow and on the plus side this mask definitely didn’t break me out (which was a slight concern, given how long I was wearing it for on my combination skin).

As expected then, my overall feeling was that this is better for short-term skin benefits before a night out or event rather than major or long-term skin improvements (even if you used it the at least once a week the brand recommends).
What other users are saying
Like me, not everyone is sold on their results with this mask. One user on TikTok writes “This mask clogs my pores, I’ve used it 3 times already and each time, the next day I had small pimples and my skin is lumpy”. As someone who is prone to breakouts though, I can at least say that the mask didn’t cause any congestion for me at all.
However, over on Reddit the reviews for this mask are pretty glowing. One user writes “Run and don’t walk getting these.. my face looks plump and lifted.. I left it on overnight”.
Another says “This is the only mask I would wear on a flight because I have SUPER sensitive skin and it doesn’t irritate my skin. It also stays relatively in place and leave [sic] my skin really nice as soon as I land! I buy mine at Olive Young global and they always have a bunch of sales.”
A word of warning though: There are tons of fake versions of this product online so be sure to purchase from a reputable website.
Is the Biodance Bio Collagen Real Deep Mask worth it?
On a pure cost-per-use basis, at under £4/$5 per mask these aren’t going to break the bank – and it’s the kind of money I could justify spending on my skin before an important event.
However, what I’m not convinced about is the time and energy investment compared to the same results I get from my regular favourite mask – the Garnier Moisture Bomb (£3.49 from Boots UK /$9.94 from Walmart US). And since they’re not widely available in store it’s also quite a hassle to pick up Biodance’s masks.
I also like fellow K-beauty brand Anua’s Heartleaf 70 Soothing Collagen Mask (£16 for four from Boots UK /$22 from Anua US), which give a similar glow payoff but in just 20 minutes.
For best short-term-glow results for your buck though- especially if collagen topicals are your thing- Medicube’s Collagen Night Wrapping Mask comes in about half the price of Biodance per use and is also a lot less fiddly, while offering similar results.
The takeaway
I found this quite annoying to wear, in all honesty. If you are able to feel comfortable with a silicone-feeling mask on your face overnight then I salute you, because a few hours was long enough for me to begin to feel sufficiently irritated by it.
I much prefer a quick sheet mask that you apply, wear for 15 minutes, and take off.
While I’ve seen some amazing results online from this and my skin looked and felt hydrated, it was no more so than when I apply my normal favourite sheet mask. As expected, I also didn’t notice tighter pores or any plumping effects.
The hassle of getting hold of this mask, applying it, and then wearing it for literal hours has probably put me off using it again – but that’s likely because I’m much more of a skincare minimalist.
For beauty maximalists though, or anyone who wants a quick glow that will last a day-ish, then I doubt you’ll regret trying it.

I am trying for the first time the Biodance Korean Overnight Mask. It feels different.i thank you for all your information. I am going to wear it for 4 hours for my first one as I didn’t know what to expect
The next one I will do it Overnight. How often should you do the mask?

It really depends on your skin type and how well you get on with the mask. Around once a week is a good place to start and then you could work up to two to three times a week if your skin is dry or dehydrated and you’re benefiting from using it x
