The Beauty Rituals Real Women Can’t Live Without: How Many Do You Do?

Spotted: Recent Reddit discussion thread, containing real beauty addicts confessing to their fail-safe beauty rituals! (Well, we’ve all got at least one, am I right?)

I do mine every Saturday morning. I shut my bedroom door, load whatever Netflix trash I’m into at the time on my phone, lean it up against my mirror and then purposely spend double the time it usually takes to do my skincare and makeup regimes. My kids don’t have to go to school, so no one is shouting at me asking where their sports kit is, it’s just me, Netflix and a bit of much-needed self-care.

That’s mine. What’s yours? Perhaps you don’t have one and you’re in the market to feel inspired. So keep scrolling to read which beauty rituals your fellow beauty fans can’t do life without.

Possibly one of my favourites – and one I can easily relate to – is from Reddit user Sophia1105 who writes, “eating chocolate at night in my bathrobe while I scroll beauty stuff online,”

While Severe_Escape_4438 says, “apply press ons while watching TV, having a hair mask/deep conditioner on under a shower cap when I’m home on the weekend.” I like their style.

Some users keep their beauty rituals short and sweet. “Dry body brushing before my shower and putting on a luxury body cream afterwards,” writes DowntownCarob.

“Dr Dennis Gross LED light mask. 3 mins/day,” adds OkParty5740 while throwaway47283 writes, “I put two gua shas in the fridge and take them out in the morning and apply it on my eyes first to de-puff, then massage the undereyes, then my forehead and then the rest of my face.”

Meanwhile, LallaSarora cooks up their own hair recipe. “I like to oil my hair once a week. I heat up a mix of argan, olive, almond and castor oil.”

Some people like to just throw themselves into their skincare regime. “Wash with a cream cleanser. Spray with toner. Serum, night cream, face oil. Wake up with glowing skin each morning,” says FarSalt7893.

And sometimes all it takes to discover your beloved beauty ritual is to find the right product. “Honestly I found a new cleanser I fell in love with and now I look forward to washing my face every morning and night,” writes Chaptera. “It used to be such a chore for me but it feels luxurious and makes my skin absolutely glow!”

Nottheredbaron123 has a calming Sunday ritual. “I love doing my own nails every Sunday. It’s become a favorite ritual of mine because it forces me to slow down for a few minutes while everything dries. I use that time to practice affirmations and set small goals for the week ahead.”

While Key_Leadership2394 does an ‘everything’ shower once a week. “I shower everyday but one day a week I do hair wash, exfoliate, shave, IPL, hair mask treatment, body wash twice, lotion, hydrating face mask, style hair, teeth whitening, brow lamination, brow dye, lash lift and fake tan all in one evening.” I’m exhausted just reading it, but I find it truly admirable!

The takeaway

So, whether yours is big or small, daily or weekly, indulge yourself in a beauty ritual. Whether it’s sitting down on a Sunday night to paint your nails, eating chocolate whilst perusing the latest beauty trends on your phone or investing in a product you really look forward to using, there is no right or wrong. The only non-negotiable is that it should make you feel amazing.
