I Tried 3 Viral Plenaire Products Loved for Their Effectiveness: Here’s my Verdict

To be completely transparent, I hadn’t heard much about Plenaire until three of their gorgeous looking products landed on my doorstep and started to do some digging.

A cursory Google though showed me that this viral skincare line is made with efficacy and simplicity in mind (no 47-step routines on this Tik Tok page).

Here, my oily skin and I try Plenaire’s cleanser, mask and blemish treatment. And spoiler alert – two out of three of them are now in my permanent skincare stash.

Keep scrolling to find out which ones made the cut…

1. Plenaire Daily Airy Self-Foaming Cleanser

When you pump this cleanser into your hand, the liquid is already a foam – easy peasy! The instructions recommend you use two pumps, which I discovered was plenty to cover my entire face.

When I first massaged the foam onto my skin, at first it didn’t feel like it was doing anything. Sure, it felt baby soft, but because you apply it directly onto dry skin and there is so much foam to contend with, it didn’t feel like I was doing enough of a cleanse. Just a surface level wash.

However, once you’ve been massaging for around 10 seconds, the foam starts to reduce, and you can see and feel the cleanser turning into a lovely creamy consistency. You can add a bit of water if you want it to move more freely around your skin but I’d say, just give it a chance.

The smell is Plenaire’s signature fragrance and is meant to be mood boosting – I’ll be honest, it’s not my favourite smell for a cleanser (I’m more into zesty scents) but others might enjoy the smell of the Japanese magnolia which is known for its antioxidant and calming properties.

Once rinsed, my skin felt super smooth and satisfyingly clean. The surface level cleanse I thought I was getting at first had actually been very thorough and I loved how kind and gentle it was to my skin. A pretty basic but pleasing cleanser. Welcome to my bathroom shelf!

2. Plenaire Skin Frosting Deeply Hydrating Mask

This mask contains raw coconut oil, cocoa butter, shea butter and Japanese Tsubaki (camelia oil) – all the ingredients you need for a proper hydration fix.

I had the 30ml tube of this mask which I’d like to immediately announce is far too small – go for the bigger one! I say this because the instructions tell you to apply a ‘thick layer’ all over. But once you’ve squeezed out a generous amount to create this thick layer, it feels like you’re going to run out of this tiny tube within three or four uses.

Anyway, I applied the mask all over as instructed and instantly liked the feel of it on my skin. You can tell straight away that it’s hydrating as it’s thick and feels super nourishing. The mask is white on application but dilutes a little and leaves only a slightly white tinge on your face. So it’s not one of those high pigment masks you see on Instagram that’s mint green or clay grey, which I’ll admit, I was slightly disappointed about!

You’re meant to leave it on for 15-20 minutes, so that’s what I did, and I really enjoyed the whole experience. My skin didn’t feel at all tight whilst wearing it (the tightness of clay masks gives me anxiety, and whilst this obviously isn’t a clay mask, I still worry that any mask you leave on for that long is going to suck my skin right up.) It just felt comfortable and like it was going to do a really good job.

After I wiped it off with a wash cloth and rinsed my face, my skin felt oh-so smooth. Not quite as glowy or gleamy as I’d hoped, but I was still really happy with the results. I can imagine applying this mask once or twice a week would really help top my skin up on moisture so that’s a big win for me.

3. Plenaire Violet Paste Overnight Blemish Solution

As someone who has regular breakouts, I’m pretty fussy about my blemish treatments. This one seemed pretty cool thanks to it being ‘inspired by a 70-year-old French beauty recipe.’ It also uses azelaic acid, BHAs and zinc oxide – all my favourite ingredients for keeping a breakout under control.

Open the product and you’ll find a violet-coloured paste. Warning: This is the exact colour it will appear on your skin. Don’t assume you can apply it in secret on a makeup free day. The box says it’s best applied in the evening anyway, although you can apparently wear it under makeup if you’d prefer.

I used my finger to dab a bit of paste over my spots – to be fair, this breakout was quite small compared to others I’ve experienced but it was equally enough for me to want it to disappear please.

The paste goes on easily and a little goes a long way. I went to bed thinking I should probably warn my husband before he comes upstairs about my purple chin but a visit to the bathroom and a look in the mirror an hour later showed me that it had already absorbed. Ah yes, the box does say that it is a ‘vanishing’ paste. Clever!

The next morning, I was hopeful that my spots would be suitably dried up and reduced. But, alas, I was a little disappointed. I get much better results from my Indeed Labs In-patch Hydrocolloid Blemish Patches, which cost under £10/$10.

My spots weren’t any bigger, but they didn’t look hugely different either. Perhaps I needed to give the paste a few more nights to work but when you’ve got a sticker that does the job in one sitting, I know which option I’d choose.

The takeaway

I really enjoyed the Plenaire Daily Airy Self-foaming Cleanser as it left my skin with a genuinely lovely finish and it didn’t irritate or mess with my skin. It was easy to use and most of all – satisfying thanks to the foam that you can literally see working. I also loved the Skin Frosting Deeply Hydrating Mask and will continue to use it for my hydration fix, although I would have liked it to leave my skin a little more glowy.

The Violet Paste Overnight Blemish Solution unfortunately didn’t provide my breakout with a solution, certainly not overnight anyway. But I can appreciate the ingredients, its clever ‘vanishing’ act and the fact that other users might have a different experience. Overall though, I’d say two out of three isn’t bad and they’re two products I will definitely carry on using.
