She’s best known for her starring role as Ruth Langmore in the Netflix crime drama series Ozark and her portrayal of the controversial Anna Delvey in Netflix’s Inventing Anna (can you tell I’m a TV and film fan?), bagging herself a Golden Globe along the way.

But Julia Garner and her doll-like looks have not only been gracing the screens, as she became one of the faces of the Gucci Guilty fragrance collection (starring in a beautiful campaign with A$AP Rocky and Elliott Page).

Usually sporting more subtle nail looks – even on the red carpet – Garner was seen rocking a perfect burgundy almond nail look for the LACMA Art+Film Gala 2023, held on November 4, and we are in. love.

Wearing a super dazzling black and silver Gucci gown, she paired her outfit with the ultimate in autumn nails.

And who was behind the look? Renowned Chanel nail artist Betina Goldstein. But given that we don’t all have her number on speed dial, we’re here to break down how to recreate the look *from home*.

Yep, that’s right. So take a seat on the sofa and get Gucci glam with us.

How to get Julia’s burgundy nails

Garner opted for long, almond-shaped talons that look insanely glossy on the red carpet and, IMO, these nut-shaped nails are the epitome of glam.

So, how do you do it?

Step 1.

Start with shaping your nails into an almond point using a good quality nail file. Nail Mart USA show how to create the perfect (symmetrical) almond shape from home in their video below.

If you’ve got shorter nails (or just find an almond nail shape a bit intimidating), don’t worry. This shade also looks *classic* on short, rounded nails.

Step 2.

Give yourself two coats of the perfect burgundy shade (check out our recommendations below) – allowing for drying time in between coats.

Goldstein demonstrates a slightly updated version in her reel, using her fave Chanel shade, Rouge Noir and capping with a navy blue French tip.

PRO TIP: Remember to cap the free edge (the end of your nails) to prevent chips! And if you need more info on at-home mani’s and tips from experts, take a look at our super simple step-by-step guide to giving yourself a glossy DIY mani.

Step 3.

Finally, you’ll want to create a high gloss finish using a good quality top coat.

Our favourite burgundy nail polishes

We’ve got a shade for all tastes and budgets so that you don’t have to do the searching.

Chanel ‘Rouge Noir’ Longwear Nail Colour

Chanel Rouge Noir (number 155) is the *perfect* shade to copy Garner’s glossy nails.

The Chanel models of this year’s 2023 spring-summer show donned this shade on the catwalk and was actually the manicure colour that Uma Thurman wore in Pulp Fiction – this shade *literally* suits all skin tones.

You can get a piece of the catwalk to wear on your nails for £29.00 from the Sephora UK website or $32.00 on the Chanel US website.

Manicurist’s Green Range Natural Nail Polish in Dark Pansy

Not only is the price tag a huge selling point for this one (£14.00 on the Manicurist UK website/$18.00 on the Manicurist US website), but the line is also vegan, cruelty-free and up to 84% plant based.

Described as a “velvet red”, this shade really is vampy and juicy, making it the most amazing shade for darker, olive tones. Lasting up to 7 days, this polish may be gentler than some alternatives but still has impressive staying power.

Revlon ‘Raven Red’ Super Lustrous™ Nail Enamel

If you want lasting, glossy, burgundy nails without spending tons though, Revlon’s Raven Red is for you. With chip resistance and anti-fade technology, this deep and autumnal shade (£8.44 on the Perfumes of London website/$5.99 on the Walmart website)will take you all the way through to winter.

This shade is a mix of burgundy and red that’s slightly lighter than Garner’s mani, but one that looks amazing on those with cooler tones and lighter hair.
