Reviewing Fenty`s Cult Mattemoiselle Lipstick

I’m normally quite the gloss fan (mainly because it takes approximately 0.5 seconds to apply and I’m really lazy when it comes to makeup).  But when I do go for lipstick I tend to go matte.

And yes there are lots of highly-pigmented and long-lasting lipsticks out there.  But rarely do they come in such chic packaging as Fenty Beauty’s Mattemoiselle Plush Matte.

Stunningly embossed and housed in some seriously chic minimalist packaging, this is one lip product you’ll want to admire for a few days before actually using it.

While Fenty is normally known for its impressive shade ranges, this 14-strong colour lineup isn’t exactly huge.

But between the year-round shades like UP 2 NO GOOD (pictured above) and seasonal limited editions, there’s pretty much something for everyone.

On the skin and colour payoff

The colour payoff is impressive, though, and the results last well (even through all the snacking/water drinking/lip biting I can get through in a day).

Meanwhile, cruelty-free and clean beauty fans will enjoy the lack of parabens, phthalates and sulphates, as well as the total lack of animal testing, and pretty much everyone can enjoy the quality formula and packaging that comes in at almost half the price of some of its luxury brand counterparts.

Reviews from customers of Boots are singing this lipsticks praises, with one saying “It’s definitely an alternative lip colour in vibrant shades. Great for fashion look or alternative colours that have bold statement.

“Not your every day wear. Feels smooth and not drying. Great colour if you are fashion makeup artist looking for a bold look.”

While another wrote “Has a good bold matte finish and is moisturising. Plays nicely with other lip products and is easy to use. Own in PMS (a lot darker than I thought it would be) and shawty. Will be repurchasing shawty when it runs out.

“I am shade 390 in the foundation and they both suit me well without a lipliner.”

Great for: Best for fans of a matte lip look, while those normally who avoid matte formulas for fear of drying out lips will enjoy the addition of passionflower seed oil and carnauba wax to nourish.

Not-so-great for: Budget beauty fans.  While this lipstick is quite a bit cheaper than some of its luxury counterparts, it’s still pretty pricey.

Fenty Beauty’s Mattemoiselle Plush Matte no longer available in the US but is available in the UK for £16.00 for 1.7 g from Boots UK
